Hello, to all my new friends at Christingoth.com. My name is Angela Chambers, I’m a makeup artist who is so excited to share tips and ideas with your whole community. Lady Michaela was kind enough to ask me to do this monthly article, and I was ecstatic to accept and share my knowledge. So without much ado, here is a little about me and what to look for in the upcoming months.

I’ve already introduced myself, however I wanted to tell you a little bit about my background. Me and my beautiful family live in Georgia, and have lived here our entire lives. I’m a mother of a beautiful 12 year old young lady, and  a mother to two crazy cats and a goofy Labrador Retriever. I started working with makeup in 2004, assisting my mother on shoots for commercials and videos as assistant makeup artist. I soon discovered I had quite the passion for it , and so I began my own business in 2006. Unfortunately, due to the economy, I had to let go of my business earlier this year, however I still remain passionate about makeup and  helping others look their best.

In the coming months I will share different techniques, tips and looks for you to try. And of course I’ll be glad to take any emails with questions or suggestions you may have. There will be different gothic looks to try as well as your everyday makeup looks. Unfortunately I won’t be able to provide video tutorials, but I promise you won’t be disappointed. I will provide pictures from time to time, to help you along your makeup journey.

Next month will be the first full article, and I’m excited to share with you and hear all of your feedback. Thank you for having me join your Godly Gothic Community. May God bless and keep everyone of you safe in His Mercy and Grace every day.

Dec. 2010  Starry Winter Night Eyes

This tutorial will make your eyes look like a gothic wintry ice queen. And will bring everyone under the spell of your beautiful eyes. Go ahead and sparkle and show your individuality this season!

What you’ll need:

Eye Primer (optional/helps shadow stay on longer)

Silver eye shadow

White eye shadow

Pale purple or pale blue eye shadow

Silver or pale purple eyeliner with glitter

Black Mascara

Sheer facial powder

Two eye shadow brushes

Lash Brush

Q-Tips

If your budget is tight, improvise with similar color pallets and shadow with glitter or a shiny sheen to it.

First apply the eye primer all over the upper lid from beneath the brow all the way down to the lash line, and from the outside corner to the inside corner of your eye. Let it sit for about a minute.

Always dust a sheer powder under your eyes on your cheeks near your outside eye corner and on the sides of your nose. This will help catch falling eye shadow and you will be able to sweep it away without the color sticking to your skin where you don’t want it.

Now take one of your shadow brushes and put a light application of the white shadow on it. Apply under your eyebrow on the brow bone from inside to the outside ending just under the end of your brow. You don’t want it to be stark white, so blend well, leaving just a hint of color. Now dab just a little of the white on the inside corners of your eyes and blend out into the larger part of your lid.

Next you will want to use the blue or purple on your eye shadow brush. Start again from the corner of your eye, overlapping the white and put a faint and blended brush of color all the way to the outside corner of your eye. Do not make the color loud, you want it to just be a hint of color.

Now take your unused eye brush and apply the silver shadow. Tap the brush to remove the excess shadow on each eye shadow application. You will now start applying the silver from the outside corner crease into the middle of your eye, following the crease. Then, sweep the brush back out along the crease again. Do not go past the corner of your eye. Follow your natural eye shape. Now take some of the silver and brush right up under your lower lash line like you would eye liner, from corner to corner, keeping it as close to your lashes as you can. You do not want color all up under your eyes making you look like a raccoon. Now use a Q-tip to remove the excess silver under your lower lash line blending and push the color up as close as you can get it to the eye.

Now it’s eyeliner time. Take the glitter eyeliner and start from the inner corner of the eye to the outward corner of the eye. When you get to the outer corner curve the liner slightly up and out, making a slight curve up. Unless you want a dramatic cat eye look, go with the natural line of your eyelash base. Do not put the eyeliner on heavily, you want a light fresh glittering look. Now line the lower lash line with an even lighter coat of eyeliner from inside corner to the outside corner.

Now take your mascara, twisting the applicator brush out of the mascara to remove excess product. Never pump your mascara this puts air into the product and will dry it up very quickly. Start on the upper lashes from the smallest corner inside lash base. Slowly wiggle the applicator back and forth through the lashes then towards the end of the lash stroke the wand up. Repeat this for all the upper lashes. Wiggling back and forth makes the coat thicker and covers more evenly. When done applying brush through the lashes with the lash brush to separate lashes, making them fan out. Now brush the face powder off of the sides of your nose, cheeks and under eyes and admire your work!

This completes this beautiful look. You can also do this look with a cream based eye shadow if you’d like. Although instead of using brushes you will have to use sponge tip applicators. I would love to see pictures of the finished product from those of you who decide to do this look. Sorry I have no pictures to post for you all to go by, but if you have any questions at all please send them my way and I will be glad to help. Merry CHRISTmas!!! And I’m looking forward to sharing more looks and beauty tips with all of you in the upcoming New Year.

Nov. 2010 WINTERIZE YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE

Hello again friends, I hope to find you enjoying the upcoming holidays and the cool, crisp air. This month, since the weather outside is getting frightful, let me help your skin weather the storm. These might be basic skin care suggestions, but they will certainly keep you glowing through the winter months.

Let’s talk moisture, ladies AND gentlemen. It is most important when choosing a skin care routine that you include a moisturizer, especially this time of year. You want a water based facial moisturizer that has NO lanolin, denatured alcohol, mineral oil, castor oil and has limited fragrance.

You also need to know your skin type. Are you normal to oily, dry, sensitive or do you have problems with acne? Even if you have oily skin it is important to hydrate your skin. My preferred and wallet friendly favorite is Oil of Olay products. Be sure to include your neck when you moisturize your face, it will get chapped too.

You will also need to keep your lips hydrated more than normal. Guys, yes even you can carry Chap stick in your pocket, and still remain cool and kissable. Might I suggest Burt’s Bee’s and Softlips lip products for perfect kissers!

Now that your face is hydrated, here’s some tips to make you glow and look your wintry best.

As your sun-kissed summer skin begins to pale, or if you are snow white all year round, the foundation of your makeup routine is key. While pumpkins are cute this season, your face looking like one is not. Most likely the concealer, liquid, or mineral powder foundation you use in the spring/summer will be too dark for your winter skin. You will most likely need to go a shade or two lighter for these products in the cold months.

Put the bronzer away as well and go pastels for your cheeks. Matte pinks and peaches will give you that barely blushing look. To apply the blush, use a medium sized blush brush (slanted tip is the best) , make sure you smile widely and apply blush to the round apples of you cheeks. Blend slightly up and out towards your jaw, for a barely-there color that is not obvious.

For beautiful bright eyes use a highlighting shadow right beneath your brow line. This will help open your eyes up and make them appear more awake. Dab some of that same color right in the far corner creases of your eyes as well and blend. Then put on your deeper colors in the outer crease of your eye, starting from the outer corner of your eye inwards.

I hope this starts you off on a winter wonderland of adventures in your beauty routine. Please feel free to email me any questions or suggestions you might have. I would like to know what you would like to read in the articles to come. Again thank you for stopping by and have a blessed November.
