Here is an idea for a
family tree. A family of bats that is.
I made this for my family. There are 5 of us so I did 5 bats. (mommy, daddy and
3 children)
All you need is: a small clay pot, black craft paint, paint brush, a branch from
a tree, some small rocks, green fake grass, pom poms, pipe cleaners, eyes, felt
and hot glue. You can use white glue but it takes forever to dry.
You can use what ever color you want.
What you are going to do first is paint the clay pot black. Then you can start
on the bats.
First take a pipe cleaner and fold it into an M. Then lay out a piece of felt,
then glue your M pipe cleaner to the top center of the felt so your points are
facing the top. (place picture #1 here) Now fold the bottom of the felt just to
the bottom of the M, and cut off the bottom piece. place picture #3 here) Then
cut down the outside edges of the M and in the top middle of the M. (place
picture #2 here) Now fold it in half so that the pipe cleaner is on the
outside and cut out the bottom edges so they are rounded out. Now as you are
cutting the round edges cut a little bit up and out towards the middle. (place
picture #4 & #5 here) Now you can glue your pom poms together. If you have large
ones you only need to glue 2 together, if you are using small ones then you will
need to glue about 6. Then cut a little triangle and cut it into 2 for the ears,
and a small circle for the nose. Then glue those on and the eyes. Now take a 1/4
of a pipe cleaner and fold it in half and fold the ends like out like an L. Now
you have feet for your bat. Now around the center point of your M on the wings
is where you want to put your glue to glue on your bat. Put a lot so it holds.
You can even go down past the middle point with the glue if you want. Then place
it on the back of the bat just a little bit below the middle of the body. Then
the next step is to put glue on the top of the legs at the point and press into
the bottom of the bat. Now you put the rocks in the pot with your branch and the
fake grass on top. And then write Our family or whatever you want on the pot.
And your done.
